The Power Of Subject Matter Experts, The Limitations Of AI And The Future Of Digital Marketing

Marketing Model Creator. Expert in Strategic Brand Planning. MACH9 CEO Mexico. Speaker and board advisor.

As a marketer and tech enthusiast, in preparation for this article, I wanted to determine how well the popular ChatGPT program might be able to advise C-level executives and marketing teams on the importance of digital marketing.

First, I started with a simple order or request: "Write a 500-word article about the importance of digital marketing when scaling up your business."유흥알바 In a matter of seconds, I got the article, went through it and started shaping out more specific attributes I considered valuable.

In round two, I added to the request: "The article should have at least three examples."

Round three: "The audience is C-level decision makers."

Round four: "Do not highlight x or y."

After five rounds, I got something decent enough that I might share with readers.

The final article generated by the program was certainly fair and impressive in its insights, pointing out, for example, the rise of affordable marketing options through social media and email. The article also noted the valuable business insights derived from digital metrics such as web traffic and open email rates, among other KPIs teams could leverage. Finally, it summarized a couple of notable cases of companies whose success has been accredited to the strategic use of digital marketing.

I wanted to understand how this particular AI functionality might impact many digital levers in creating content. My key finding as I read these lines created by ChatGPT was that the content was accurate and interesting, but it still didn't speak to the level of experience or authority of a true expert.

If I had written the article from scratch, I would have never published it the way it was written. So my main takeaway is that AI can be an excellent help for teams and brands to create content—but you need experts on the asking end. The quality of your product will always be strongly influenced by the quality of your creators and their expertise. And the second is that AI is not even close to transmitting the human essence of experience; it can generate good content, but not human content.

Here are three pieces of digital marketing advice my experiment with ChatGPT was not able to articulate.

1. Build a frictionless journey. Interconnect all touchpoints of your digital ecosystem. There is a big difference between multichannel and omnichannel. Do omnichannel strategies and be sure you understand the difference between them. Multichannel is about being present in many channels; omnichannel is putting them together and making sense.

2. Don't think of digital as one world and physical as another; blend them as consumers do in their day to day.

3. Digital is much more than social and paid media. Ninety percent of my clients "believe" they are covered up because they have a team or set of agencies doing social and paid. Companies must evolve from this crazy idea into attribution and retention models where every source is aligned, measured and understood.

So, on the one hand, we may be able to "create" a 500+ word article in a matter of seconds—including the title—but with a lower level of quality for an in-depth topic based on my personal experience or any other human being.

My takeaway: AI will enable and impact content creation, making it very dynamic for brands and organizations, allowing us to pump in content. But when we talk about high-level knowledge and authoritative content, there is still much to learn from a human brain and experience. For now, at least, no AI seems poised to match a human rationale when it comes to expressing and sharing an opinion as a subject matter expert.

Capital One exclusive business travel card gets a sleek new name and look

The small business credit card market is full of highly appealing offers, and Capital One has contributed to it with its expansive family of Spark cards.

Next week, however, one of the cards will be leaving the Spark family — but it won't be going very far. The Capital One Spark 도우미알바 Travel Elite, a premium travel business card, will be joining the Venture cards and getting a new name: the Capital One Venture X Business.

Like the Spark Travel Elite, the new Venture X Business will have a $395 annual fee and only be available to clients of Capital One relationship managers. Below, CNBC Select breaks down the card's features and how you can apply for one.

Capital One Venture X Business benefits

The Capital One Venture X Business will be a premium metal card with a new design. However, it will continue offering the same rewards and benefits as the Spark Elite. Here are some key features of the card:

  • The Venture X Business is a charge card. This means that the card has no preset spending limit but you must pay the balance in full every month. Otherwise, you'll be hit with a 2.99% late fee.
  • The card provides access to benefits for business owners. These include free employee and virtual cards, the option to sync transaction data with your accounting software, year-end summaries and more.
  • The Venture X Business earns travel rewards. You'll get unlimited 2X miles on every purchase, as well as 10X miles on hotels and rental cars and 5X miles on flights when booked through Capital One Travel.
  • It also offers excellent travel benefits. You'll receive up to $300 in statement credits annually for travel booked through Capital One and up to 10,000 bonus miles (worth $100 toward travel) every year after your first card anniversary. You'll also get access to Capital One Travel's new Premier Collection which allows booking stays at a curated selection of luxury hotels. On top of that, you'll be able to use complimentary access to Capital One Lounges and over 1,300 partner lounges. Finally, you can earn a TSA PreCheck or Global Entry application fee credit every four years.
  • Considering the potential value the card can offer, frequent travelers shouldn't have a problem offsetting its hefty $395 annual fee. The Venture X Business comes with some top-tier perks. The 2X earning rate on all purchases also makes it easy to earn travel rewards on your business spending. Capital One keeps redemption flexible, too: You can redeem directly through the issuer's travel portal, use your miles to cover recent travel purchases, transfer them to Capital One's airline and hotel partners or redeem for gift cards or cash back.

How to get the Capital One Venture X Business

If you're an existing Spark Travel Elite cardholder, you don't need to take any additional steps. You will see the card name change on your account next week and Capital One will reach out to you when your new metal card is available to order.

For new cardholders, the Venture X Business will be available exclusively through the issuer's relationship managers — at least "for the time being", according to Capital One. If you're interested in the card, speak to your relationship manager to see if you can apply.

Alternatively, you can look into the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. Aside from the fact that it's a personal card with a credit limit and no business benefits, it offers the same rewards structure and perks as the Venture X Business at the same annual fee.

Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card

Information about the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card has been collected independently by Select and has not been reviewed or provided by the issuer of the card prior to publication.

  • Rewards

Unlimited 2X miles on all eligible purchases, and 5X miles on flights and 10X miles on hotels and rental cars when booked via Capital One Travel portal

  • Welcome bonus

Earn 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening

  • Annual fee
  • Intro APR
  • Regular APR

    21.24% - 28.24% variable APR

  • Balance transfer fee

0% at the regular transfer APR

  • Foreign transaction fees
  • Credit needed
  • Pros
  • Large welcome bonus
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Up to $100 statement credits for either Global Entry or TSA PreCheck®
  • Unlimited complimentary access for you and two guests to 1,300+ lounges, including Capital One Lounges and the Partner Lounge Network
  • Cons
  • High annual fee
  • No introductory 0% APR period
  • As you can see, with Venture X, you'll get identical rewards, annual travel credit and anniversary bonus, lounge access and reimbursement perk for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fees. If you're okay getting travel rewards and benefits through a personal card rather than a business one, the Venture X is a solid alternative.

That said, remember that mixing personal and business spending is generally not a good idea since it can complicate your tax situation.

If you'd rather stick with a business credit card, you also have options. For example, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, CNBC Select's best business card for luxury perks, earns 5X Membership Rewards® points on flights and prepaid hotels on amextravel.com and 1.5X Membership Rewards® points on eligible purchases at U.S. construction material and hardware suppliers, electronic goods retailers and software and cloud system providers, and shipping providers, as well as on purchases of $5,000 or more everywhere else (up to $2 million of these purchases per calendar year). It also comes with premium perks, including multiple statement credits and access to airport lounges.

  • Rewards

Earn 5X Membership Rewards® points on flights and prepaid hotels on amextravel.com and 1X points for each dollar you spend on eligible purchases. Also, earn 1.5X points (that's an extra half point per dollar) on eligible purchases at US construction material & hardware suppliers, electronic goods retailers and software & cloud system providers, and shipping providers, as well as on purchases of $5,000 or more everywhere else, on up to $2 million of these purchases per calendar year.

  • Welcome bonus

Earn 120,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $15,000 on eligible purchases within the first 3 months of card membership

  • Annual fee
  • Intro APR
  • Regular APR
  • Balance transfer fee
  • Foreign transaction fee
  • Credit needed
  • Bottom line

The Capital One Venture X Business is a premium business credit card that can allow you to earn travel rewards on your business purchases and take advantage of highly attractive perks. It can be a great choice for business owners who travel frequently and can easily offset the card's $395 annual fee.

Perhaps the only significant drawback is that you can only get the card through the issuer's relationship manager. If that's not an option, you might want to shop for a different business card — or consider the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card if you don't mind getting a personal credit card instead.

How Volunteering Can Positively Impact Employee Wellness and Community Engagement

planting tree© Africa Studio/stock.adobe.com planting tree

The New Year has come and gone, and many may have already forgotten what they had resolved to do on January 1. But if that resolution was to volunteer more, now is the best time to start.

Volunteering can drop after the holiday season, and by February, some organizations lack the volunteers they had in surplus just a month ago. According to the Sightlines Project, only 26% of American surveyed volunteer, 주말알바 despite reports that many American view volunteering as worthwhile. Why such a disconnect? Most people cite time and conflicting work schedules as major barriers, but employees and employers would actually benefit if companies made employee volunteering part of the job.

Researchers have found donating our time and talent to others who need it can lower blood pressure, boost happiness and improve mental and physical health. Studies have also linked employee volunteer programs with more productive and engaged employees, all while helping a company meet its community engagement ambitions. With so much emphasis on employee wellness these days, company volunteer programs could be the perfect 2023 resolution to ensure we are all taking care of ourselves and our communities.

A Bridge Between Personal and Professional

As hybrid and remote teams further blur the lines between work and personal life, more employees than ever are taking their work home with them. But this increased flexibility also brings more opportunities to bridge the gap between personal and professional interests and make the workplace more fun and fulfilling. Companies can embrace these new opportunities by allotting time for their workers to volunteer for causes they care about.

From 'traditional' volunteering opportunities, like working at a soup kitchen, to something that aligns more closely with their interests, like teaching a free class: Employees benefit from helping others. Most employees have personal passions they may not bring to work. Volunteering lets us take advantage of skills we may not get to exercise in our regular day-to-day. Not only is it fun to engage more of our talents, but we feel more fulfilled, which helps us bring our whole selves to work.

I had a colleague who always wanted to be on stage but never had the opportunity. When the conversation about volunteering arose, they combined this passion with giving back to their community and decided to help out at a local theater. Volunteering got their foot into a door they had long desired to enter, giving them the courage to try something new and fun they always wanted to pursue.

    Volunteering Rejuvenates

For volunteering to benefit employees and the workplace, the entire organization needs to be involved. By allowing employees to donate their time during work hours, the workplace becomes an outlet for personal fulfillment without affecting personal time. In one survey, 89% of employees perceived companies that sponsored volunteer activities as fostering a better working environment, and 75% said volunteering was critical to their well-being. Company-sponsored volunteer programs rejuvenate employee morale, workplace atmosphere and brand perception.

For the past few years, I've worked with a colleague who makes beautiful centerpieces. She can utilize her three volunteering days (a benefit we've had for over 10 years) to buy the materials, bring them to work and raffle them off, with all of the money going to charity. People loved it, so when she found herself with an abundance of materials this past season, she decided to hold a workshop where she taught us how to make them. Everyone worked together to learn a fun new skill, and all of the pieces were later raffled off for charity. By allowing this volunteer effort during work hours, she amplified her typical contribution while sharing her gift with the team, who learned and grew from the experience.

    Responsibility Matters

Recruiting statistics continuously reinforce the narrative that employees care about community-conscious brands, and employers are starting to take notice. Older reports show that corporate responsibility can increase employee productivity and even revenue — while also demonstrating that some employees would consider a pay cut in exchange for working at a company that demonstrates social responsibility. With this in mind, some companies already offer employees paid volunteer time off.

A social responsibility program built around volunteerism can improve an organization at every level, all the way down to each individual employee. When companies promote volunteerism during the workday, they support employee personal growth and development while reaping key business benefits beyond workplace satisfaction. Employees who volunteer on company time also build key skills and cultivate stronger relationships with their co-workers. Meanwhile, the organization gains recognition for its significant impact on the community.

Volunteerism tends to spike between Thanksgiving and New Year and then drastically decreases for the remainder of the year. With company support, more people can keep up their motivation to do more good in more places. Leaders can start by embracing volunteering initiatives themselves and inspire the rest of the company with their beneficial impact — for the volunteer, those they help and the company that sponsors their volunteer activities.

Can Profitable And Sustainable Growth Coexist?

Aamir Paul, President, North America Operations, Schneider Electric.

    getty

It’s a question I frequently hear from customers, peers in the energy industry and other tech leaders who wonder if we can prioritize both in the current environment.

And my answer, always, is this: the alternative cannot.

As leaders, we understand the effects of climate change—we see them as we contend with power outages, pandemics 단기알바 and the loss of resources. We talk about acting more sustainably. But 37% of the Fortune Global 500 haven’t yet made a climate commitment, let alone have taken substantive action to decarbonize. I believe these organizations will be left behind.

The reason is clear: sustainability is intrinsically connected to profitability. You must invest in it to survive.

    Sustainability As A Business Opportunity

Decarbonization investments aren’t just a business imperative. They’re business opportunities.

Let’s start with energy costs, which comprise a significant portion of an organization’s operational budget. Sustainable technologies—from digital software that tracks energy use to electrification and microgrids—are designed to make you run efficiently from an energy standpoint, resulting in lower operating expenses.

Leading real estate service provider JLL is a prime example of an organization utilizing digital and electric decarbonization solutions to impact the bottom line. By connecting its building’s power, controls, indoor air quality monitors and other efficiency tools under a single system, it reduced energy use by 30%.

Next, consider that we live in a world where sustainability is an investor, consumer and employee priority. These decarbonization innovations don’t just save money on the operational front; they also build business loyalty. Are you operating a net-zero building? Have you just invested in a microgrid? News like that garners positive attention from your stakeholders through more investments, higher sales and committed employees.

Sustainability As A Tool For Overcoming Global Challenges, Locally

Whether we are talking about macroeconomics, the environment, or geopolitics—there’s no shortage of global challenges. But tackling them as a point-solution problem isn’t a long-term strategy. So, what is?

Systemic sustainability—where solutions and strategies are baked into each organizational facet—is one of the most effective and available ways for us to overcome climate change, energy reliability, supply chain hurdles and other crises.

Those sustainability technologies I outlined above are efficiency drivers, helping curb carbon emissions and reducing energy when deployed on a large scale. They also enhance energy reliability, with solar panels, battery storage, microgrids, etc., backing up our aging electrical grid, so there is no need to stop operations during a utility outage or to avoid peak energy pricing.

Of course, the sustainability conversation involves so much more than widgets and solutions; We can’t talk about systemic sustainability without addressing the value chain. What’s particularly striking is the connection between sustainable material sourcing and business success. In a survey of over 350 companies, Stanford Business researchers found that 63% of buyers and 73% of suppliers believed sustainable procurement helped them endure the pandemic.

    Sustainability As An Ecosystem Builder

Digging deeper into the supply chain topic is vital when discussing the connection between profits and decarbonization. After all, supply chain emissions are 12 times larger than operational emissions, meaning no one company can decarbonize alone.

As the tremendous impact of Scope 3 emissions becomes better known, sustainable companies naturally create ecosystems with other sustainable companies to maximize efforts—leaving everyone else behind.

Consider Walmart. Through Project Gigaton™, this global powerhouse engages (read: educates, supports and recognizes) suppliers with a goal to reduce or avoid one million metric tons of greenhouse gases across its global value chain by 2030. Suppliers—eager to continue their strategic partnerships with this revenue leader, learn how to source more environmentally friendly raw materials and use renewable energy. Already at 57% of its goal with more than half of the project timeline to go, Walmart and its suppliers are proving that partnering for sustainability is good for business and profits.

Can Walmart’s approach be scaled down? Absolutely. The key is knowing who the partners are and allying with them to plan, act, report and refine across the sustainability journey.

By showing commitment and action, sustainability partnerships are a natural gateway toward growth. They encourage investors to invest, consumers to purchase and employees to want to work there.

    Sustainability Requires Leadership

What’s most interesting to me is how personal these conversations of sustainability and profitability really are. So often, to turn sustainability ambitions into action, it takes a leader who both feels a personal responsibility to act and, second, understands there is no tradeoff between doing good for business and the world.

Sustainability leaders around us, like Rose Marcario of Patagonia, Leena Nair of Unilever and Andrew Anagnost of Autodesk, are ordinary people doing extraordinary work. They understand the business benefits, and they find partners to fast-track strategies.

They know that to do good, you have to be good. And to be successful, you have to be sustainable.

Amid food inflation, more shoppers turn to dollar stores for groceries

  • Rising food costs are pushing consumers to get more creative about where they go for groceries.
  • Discount dollar stores are becoming a key destination for affordable essentials, including perishable and nonperishable goods, according to a recent report.
  • Savings experts share their top tips to cut costs no matter where you shop.
  • A man looks at frozen foods for sale at a Dollar Store in Alhambra, California on August 23, 2022.

Among all rising costs, sky-high grocery bills have been especially painful.

Although the consumer price index, an inflation gauge that measures the cost of a broad basket of goods and services, started to ease as of the latest reading, food prices were up yet again, the U.S. Department of Labor reported.

Over the past year, food prices overall have risen more than 10%. Egg prices, alone, soared 60%, butter is up more than 31% and lettuce jumped 25%, according to Labor Department data through December.

As a result, consumers are looking for any — and all — ways to save. For some, that means shopping at their local dollar store.

Dollar stores are pulling in more grocery shoppers

Slowly but surely, discount 초보알바 dollar stores' share of total grocery spending has been creeping up, according to a recent report from Coresight Research. Already, more than 1 in 5 consumers buy groceries at dollar stores, according to Coresight's weekly U.S. Consumer Tracker.

A separate study published in the American Journal of Public Health also found that dollar stores were the fastest-growing food retailers, in part because they are expanding at an unmatched pace, especially in rural areas.

    More from Personal Finance:

64% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck

Almost half of Americans think we're already in a recession

Why inflation soared for 10 items in 2022

To lure shoppers, the country's category giants — Dollar General and Dollar Tree, which owns Family Dollar — have been adding stores and remodeling with more refrigeration units and expanded grocery offerings, including healthier foods and fresh produce, the Coresight report found.

"If the two retailers continue to improve the quality of their fresh food while maintaining the low prices associated with their brands, there is a high chance it will bolster their value proposition with their existing consumer base and also pull in new customers from higher-priced retailers," the report said.

'It's about making your dollar go a little further'

These days, shoppers are considering alternatives, especially if it means better prices, said Julie Ramhold, consumer analyst with DealNews. "It's about making your dollar go a little further."

However, the value is not always there, she added. Despite the name, "you will be hard-pressed to find items that are just a dollar." It's important to check the unit price and compare with the offerings at other stores, including Walmart and Trader Joe's, Ramhold said.

    © Provided by CNBC

In addition, the grocery assortment will still be smaller than what you would find at a supermarket or a warehouse club. For example, the selection of fruits and vegetables may be limited to more shelf-stable offerings like bagged salad mixes and bananas, Ramhold said.

Further, with less turnover, you are more likely to find items near the expiration date. "It's important to check 'best by' dates," she cautioned.

With food inflation persisting, savings experts share their top tips to spend less on groceries, regardless of where you shop.

  • Scrutinize sales. Generic brands can be 10% to 30% cheaper than their "premium" counterparts and just as good — but that's not always the case. Name brands may be offering bigger than usual discounts right now to maintain loyalty, so it's important to price check.
  • Plan your meals. When you plan your meals in advance, you're more likely to just buy the things you need, said Lisa Thompson, a savings expert at Coupons.com. If planning's not your thing, at least go shopping with a rough idea of what you'll be cooking in the week ahead to help stay on track and avoid impulse purchases, she added.
  • Buy in bulk. When it comes to the rest of the items on your list, you can save more by buying in bulk. Joining a wholesale club such as Costco, Sam's Club or BJ's will often get you the best price per unit on condiments and nonperishable goods. Then, keep your pantry organized, with food closer to expiration in front so you know to cook or consume them before they go bad, advised consumer savings expert Andrea Woroch.
  • Use a cash-back app. Ibotta and Checkout 51 are two of the most popular apps for earning cash back at the store, according to Ramhold. The average Ibotta user earns between $10 and $20 a month, but more active users can make as much as $100 to $300 a month, a spokesperson told CNBC.
  • Pay with the right card. While a generic cash-back card such as the Citi Double Cash Card can earn you 2%, there are specific grocery rewards cards that can earn you up to 6% back at supermarkets nationwide, such as the Blue Cash Preferred Card from American Express. CNBC's Select has a full roundup of the best cards for food shopping along with the APRs and annual fees.

Chaotic scene erupts outside Texas grocery store after someone posts about 'free food' being distributed amid power outages

Authorities in Austin, Texas, responded to gridlocked roads near an H-E-B grocery store this week after more than 250 people clamored for food that had been discarded due to the sustained power outage at the location.

Travis County Constable Pct.4 George Morales III posted photos of the incident on social media and told residents to share the information that there wasn’t free food being distributed at the store, and it wasn’t safe to eat.

Morales went on to say that the food 고수익알바 was “rotten and spoiled, and is unsafe to eat.” Law enforcement responded to the scene after roads were gridlocked due to the false post, Morales said.

In a statement to CNN affiliate KEYE, the H-E-B said, it “did not offer free food,” and that the store had power outages that contributed to a mass amount of rotten food.

A deadly ice storm that swept through Texas last week wiped out power to more than 400,000 homes, businesses and other electricity customers.

As of Sunday morning, at least 66,000 Texas customers had no electricity, according to the tracking website PowerOutage.US.

“Due to a sustained power outage, the store was unable to keep certain perishable foods at proper temperatures,” H-E-B said in a statement given to CNN affiliate KEYE.

“To adhere to strict food quality and safety standards, we are required to dispose of certain perishable foods when they are not properly temperature controlled, which also prevents us from donating the items to food pantries and food banks.”

As rumors about the free food giveaway spread, roads were gridlocked and law enforcement responded, Morales said.

CNN has reached out to the city of Austin and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office for comment.

Travis County was among those included in an ice storm disaster declaration issued by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Saturday.

Clarification: This story has been updated after George Morales III said he misspoke when he characterized the chaotic incident outside the Austin H.E.B. store as a “fight.” Morales now says it was a briefly unsafe scene.
